Satisfaction Survey: TinyCo

Hey guys,

I messaged TinyCo in game about a month back, and they answered my query. Today, I got a “satisfaction survey” in my email inbox. I didn’t forget about you guys, so this is what I wrote…

My
query was answered quickly and efficiently but I run a tips site for the game and a LOT of gamers aren’t happy with TinyCo and the game, the main issues being that they feel that the game is all for premium players and unlocking characters are either too expensive (too many clams) or too hard to unlock (too many extra rare items etc) and that the same characters are always used for tasks (Peter, Joe, Bonnie, Jerome) but the other 60+ characters are pointless after being unlocked.
Just some feedback from regular gamers.”

I think that covers most of the issues but hopefully they’ll pay attention and take note

  1. So, RyPod got a survey and a chance to voice opinions about the event and the game on behalf of all of us (thanks, RyPod, for looking out for all of us!). Moviebuff got 600 clams. I messaged them a week ago (email, because in-game messages don’t work on my game for some reason), because I was supposed to get the Don too, but only got Stewie even though my rank was around 8,000. No reply. Haven’t gotten the Don. Nothing.

    *kicks rocks*

Anyone have any tips for how to get them to actually respond to me? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    1. I just looked to see if I could forward you the email I got (which contains a feedback link) but it doesn’t work because it mustn’t allow the same link to be used twice ๐Ÿ˜• I don’t know of any other way, apart from the email and the in-game messaging

      1. Thanks anyway, RyPod! This site’s great, and you guys are always responsive, so I appreciate it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll try emailing them again in a few days if I don’t hear anything. My husband already quit playing over the poor execution of mobsters. I’m not ready to yet, but I’m sitting out this mini-event. I don’t really want to quit playing, because I love my silly little town but…I’ll have to wait and see.

Totally looking forward to the Futurama game, though. Thanks to you guys for bringing that to our attention! โค

  4. I’m mainly tired of having over half of my buildings and items in storage because I cannot fit another pixel on the map.
    Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand!!!!

    1. I just put all my small buildings on the map now. Thanks to the money vacuum you can now see how much you make every time you collect rent.
I can normally collect from 1000 to 5000 coins an hour.

  5. The mobster event was VERY expensive even for premium players. Item drop rates are often too hard AND way off. For Chip I have 5/8 Dingo Collars at Very Rare. Red Balloons I have 1/4 and they are only Rare. So rare drops less that VERY rare?!? Of course, space is also an issue for all players. I can’t even organize as every event I have to inventory buildings as there’s just no more room! Thanks for looking out for everyone RyPod!!

    1. The dingo collars have more chances to drop than the balloons, so it only makes sense that they would finish first. The ballon drop rate is terrible though. I got the house and got 3 of my balloons from it and only 1 from jerome.

  6. Thank you Rypod for making comments on the survey you received that reflect what most of us are feeling. Maybe TinyCo will actually listen. They did take the time and effort to prepare a survey in the first place, so it appears they are looking for some feedback. Maybe they are hearing the rumblings from blogs like yours about the last few events. And maybe. maybe, they will even make some adjustments to the game.

  7. I hope they really consider all the reasonable feedback for future improvement. I’m a little disappointed on the way the game has gone since the Star Trek Event. Whether about game techniques, or logic about time needed and drop rates, how they eliminate whatever seems to be of help, or merely technical issues about programing and crashing, I couldn’t find a reason to think the game was worth playing anymore, except for the time already invested. On the other hand, I can’t stop thinking that some of those changes and difficulties are the result of too much complaining from players even when something good happens. Specifically, Remember when we got 20K Cookies on the X-mas Event for unlocking Santa? People complained about “what are those good for…” now we needed 20K for Tricia’s Costume and the Cookie drops where terrible! – Way too much needed, but then again, in past events players complain about what to do with all the Event Currency they had left. When the obvious thing is, just use it, or if you have everything you want… just be happy. Is only Event Currency. When we finally get a reasonable pace, or something that is supposed to take a while but fluidly, some complain that there is nothing to do. You know what I mean?

There are so many issues going on right now, like the lack of land, excessive crashing, everything is clam priced, or it’s Event/Limited Time released. I truly hope they find a balance, otherwise the game won’t be here much longer…

  8. I think that I have the useless characters and buildings figured out.. When an Event starts, you have to be at level 3 they say… Well, the characters that they are going to use, besides the main characters are the characters up to that level.. That is why it is always Herbert, Jerome, etc….. The same with the buildings giving quest items.. Quahog national bank and others.. But they really have been using new buildings for questlines the past few events…

    1. Yeah, but wouldn’t it be cool to use others for a change, such as Meg, Stewie, Seamus, Jillian, and even some of the other event characters such as The Smith family (from American Dad) and the Comic Con celebs? Just once? To help get certain items? Even if they’re super ultra mega rare? Gives them something to do and something to aim for

      1. How would this take into account people who have been playing for a short time? It would make things easier for long term players and hard or if not impossible for the new people who don’t have some of the characters that you want to use. That’s why they use the base characters. Meg is rarely used because, well, that’s the joke.

They are a company so they have to make money. The problem now is that more people have started cheating, hence the leaderboard to try and flush them out. In 3 months this game has gone from number 1 top grossing game on iOS to number 40. This is why we are getting several short events, they are hoping that the hackers won’t be able to keep up and release the hacks in time, forcing people to pay if they want the prizes.

As for all you people moaning about land. Bored of that one now. The town is supposed to be a fluid and changing thing. I have yet to see even the biggest event NEED more than 20 buildings or decorations. Just because you are hoarders and want to keep absolutely everything out, doesn’t mean we are all like that. What’s the point in having all the stuff out? Collect more coins……what for? Coins are so rarely ever used so why do you need to collect so many. Put everything in the inventory and just have out what you need. Keep it tidy and easy to use. Put away maxed out characters that aren’t performing useful tasks.

You’ll find the game a lot more enjoyable and easy to play. You’ll not accidentally pick people up when panning around as there are less people and all the buildings you actually need are on 1 screen.

  9. My complaint to them is the fact that I was ranked in the 7,000 the last day and a half left of the Mobster event and then the crashing started to occur again and I lost my ranking to over 10,000 and only got Zoot Suit Stewie instead of what I was supposed to get was the Don also. I tried to explain this but the people at customer service thought I was talking about the personal Leaderboard and not the global leader board and told me that they can’t add things from the Mobster event except Global prizes. They gave me 600 clams as a way to not bother them any more. I have tried to write them again but they seem to be ignoring me now. I don’t know who else to talk to about this because it seems that they didn’t take into account the crashing when they did the final totals on the Leaderboard and therefore I am sure many people missed out on prizes they should have won but didn’t due to the crashing.

      1. Well, I am the type that is a completionist and that is why I work hard to get all the characters and outfits. 600 clams to me is an insult especially if I didn’t buy them or earn them honestly.

      2. I agree with Rypod. 600 Clams is unheard of as a reward for crashing. Makes me think I need to message them as well. I have been playing on my Galaxy Tab 4 because my Galaxy S5 Phone just won’t run the app for more than a minute before crashing out, no matter how many other apps I disable or uninstall, still to this day.

      3. 600 clams is the equivalent of ยฃ15. It may not sound a lot but if someone said to me…

Hey…you over there!! Yeah…you…the attractive looking gentleman with the awesome sense of humour and blog writing skills…Do you want ยฃ15?

I’d say…I wish he was talking to me ๐Ÿ˜„

      4. I am in agreement with all. 600 clams and you are still complaining? Are you taking the mickey out of all of us who have complained to tinyco time and time again on the crashing issue and got absolutely nothing! You should be thankful.

That clams you got will get you 3 Dons I reckon. I am gonna try your strategy next time… complain to tinyco for not getting a character due to crashes. I will be satisfied with 500clams.

      5. 500 is better than 400… I will take it. Maybe when tinyco becomes this generous, there will be less cheaters.

    1. There is an ancient proverb, not sure where it comes from, but here it goes. “Never look a gift horse in the mouth”. In essence it means never complain about getting a gift (600 Clams or otherwise). If you don’t want the 600 Clams you were given, or are insulted by the very nature of being awarded them to “not bother them”, I will gladly accept them from you. Most all of us have dealt with crashing of some nature and lost days or weeks of game time. I have yet to get rewarded like that, or at all, for my down time.

      1. I agree, I would find it hard to complain after being given 600 clams. And that’s what they were counting on. But I understand moviebuff3000’s point. He wants to play the game and earn things as intended. There is more to serving your customer than throwing money at them (especially when it’s just pixels representing money). Is it really that hard to add Don Corleone to a person’s game? If they don’t want to be known for placing items in individuals’ games, that makes sense. But throwing clams at players because of crashing does seem to show disregard toward the person’s time and effort, as well as the economic balance of the game.

      2. I understand what your saying BUT it’s like working 40 hours and only getting paid for 20 hours because of a computer glitch on payrolls end and them telling me: “Sorry for the inconvenience, here take an extra $20 and don’t bother us anymore about your paycheck.”

      3. I understand your frustrations, believe me, but it’s not really like your scenario at all, if you’re a completionist like you said then it must be frustrating to not get everything but everyone else has had problems with the game and complained time after time after time, and they’ve received nothing, no clams, no compensation, nothing. 600 clams is massive and pays off most of your hard work, if in the future, they release the Don as extra content and you can buy him then, I guarantee he won’t cost 600 clams, he’ll be much less, so you’ll get him and still have spare clams

    2. Send an email to help[at]tinyco.com and they’ll help you out if you describe step by step and in detail your situation. I’ve emailed them on several occasions (as opposed to directly sending them an in-game message) and they’ve always helped me out.
