Brian’s Fired Up!!

Hey guys,

As some of you have seen, Firedog Brian is now available.

How Do I Get Him?

Firedog Brian can be yours for 210 CLAMS!!

Obviously it’s a bit pricey but it is what it is. My thoughts are that I at least have more time to get Chris and ignore the Brian outfit lol

Will you be investing?

  1. After the Star Trek event and seeing how the imbeciles at TinyCo handled the Bird Beard Peter, I will never buy clams or spend real money on this game again.

  2. Is the only way to open the fire chief is by using clams to open poles 4 and 5? I’ve finished all quests and bought firedog Brian. I have nothing to do! Thanks

  3. I should of suspected from the start one of our 3 costumed friends would cost a premium price, but I can say that I was not prepared for it.
Chris was very easy to earn, I’m just hoping the end of the event will go as smooth.

  4. Not spending Clams for Brian’s new coat of fur. Didn’t spend Clams during the New Years event for Brian’s Tuxedo either. I believe that was the first time a costume was offered for a premium, and I decided at that point I was not going to pay for costumes, ever.

    1. I looked back at the other premium costumes they have offered. New Years Brian cost 150 Clams, Steroid Stewie cost 200 Clams, Fire Dog Brian 210 Clams. Inflation??

Oh and by the way Rypod, an investment is something that you usually expect a return on, sometimes a loss, but something that you might get your money or more back from. I doubt I would get any return on the investment of this costume. It probably won’t ever be used again in the game.

  5. I was actually thinking of using clams to purchase the fire captain because of the ability to the collect hats for the mystery box. Then, I looked at the “prizes”. Wow, what a weak lot. Tinyco, No clams for you!!

  6. I bought fire dog Brian because my husband is in fire safety and in love with everything firefighter related. So, it has some personal significance to me. I knew as soon as they announced the theme that I was going to spend a little on this particular event, though. It does really suck that they did this, however. I would have been happier if you collected stuff to get him, even if I ended up spending the same 210 for him because I wanted to move on to collect things for Seamus. Oh, and for those still working on Chris, I figured out you can spend 4 clams to train a firefighter without waiting an hour, so you put out a fire instantly to get a gas can. Buying a can in the costume shop is 12 clams, so this is a 66 percent savings for very little effort. Something to consider if push comes to shove with Chris. Best of luck guys!

  7. I was happy with this event. The theme was good, and having a plot of extinguishing fires was good motivation. Personal motivation of collecting items wit the goal of getting Brian at the end was good. Since life happens and I can not get to game during work hours or sleep hours I even planned on spending shells for what was needed on the last day. I am sorry that Tinyco did not set the game up that way.

    1. I will most likely get him. I am just waiting to see how hard seamus will be first.

Anyways i have finished the mystery boxes and the hats are still dropping. So im going to get more tonight like i have been doing. Train fc’s while sleeping and ff while awake.

  8. I can see both worlds. For the record, I bought him, but not for reasons you might think.

Does anyone know the percentage of players who buy clams? I would be betting on under 10% of the playing base buy clams regularly. Myself, only for events and still I use them sparingly, so I can keep them for as much cool stuff as I can.

People complain about the cost of clam items. Understandable. But the price is also bought on by many factors. Would you go to work everyday wondering if you were going to be paid? If you were going to make or loose money? Of course you wouldn’t.

The smaller a percentage of the playing group that pay, the more the prices will rise. The more prices rise, the less people will pay, and then TinyCo folds due to a lack of funds.

That said, I am happy with the purchase. And assuming that Seamus is free, Bryan will work out to only be 185 clams after the set is completed. I can live with that (and I live off less than 400 bucks a fortnight, not including rent – and I live alone!)

    1. I understand what you’re saying but no one trusts tiny co anymore. Would you pay for something just because someone says ‘give me your money’ or would you rather see what you’re spending on, read reviews and try it out yourself then decide if it’s worth buying? Obviously the second option which is why everyone’s complaining. Tiny co aren’t giving legit reasons for making us spend money on clams.

  9. I’m going to pass on this one. Ive been playing since nearly the beginning and have lots of characters I’ve unlocked, like kingbutt and Mr weed etc that now do nothing! What’s the point in spending clams when a week later the character/costume has no benefit? Going to put my effort in to more worth while events! Overall liking this fire event, little less panic to get things which is what it should be like.

  10. 210 clams for a costume?!? They’re ‘avin a laugh! A full on character that can still collect coins after the event would be fine, but for just a costume?!?

In a way I’m glad. After bird beard, I said I’d never buy clams again. I see nothing to tempt me here…

  11. When we have obtained all 3 costumes, we get FREE 25 clams!!! NICE !!!!…….
However, we need to spend 210 clams on Brian’s outfit…

bummer 😦 well done tinyco for screwing with us again.

  13. I was liking this event right up until they made Brian a premium. Not a chance I will spend close to 10 bucks on a skin. Then again, by making Brian a clam purchase, they helped me to re focus on what it is I like about the game, and it is more about crafting items and decorating and organizing the town than the mindless accumulation of stuff.

I have a handful of clams left on account, and when they are gone, I will not replenish them. I have only been playing since February, and I am already out of room for stuff anyway. *chuckle*

  14. I didn’t pay for new years Brian, and i’m not paying for this one lol.
Maybe the mystery box at the end of the year will have it for 75!

  15. Is it possible that the 210 clams is for an early unlock only and we’ll be able to create him later without clams? When you look for him in the store he has a green “create” button instead of the normal clam price in that spot. And he also shows up in Al Harrington’s, which I don’t recall seeing a premium character before.

    1. It’s possible Josh…but I believe it’s unlikely, if I’m wrong then I’ll fully own up but this event finishes in 8 days and there’s still Seamus to come, so I think that they’ve rushed it and tried to squeeze too much into a short space of time, hence clams

    2. I think you’re getting characters and costumes mixed up. What you’ve said is true for characters but this isn’t a character. If you played the New Years event you’d remember Brian’s costume was just like this (a clam price in al Harrington and unlock symbol in the store).

  16. Short answer: No, I’m absolutely not shelling out clams for a costume!

Longer answer: I’m starting to wonder if they’re just testing out exactly how many ways they can piss off their players.

When this event started, I was one of the few who actually enjoyed it. I got Chris first thing this morning, after delaying him a day so I could unlock the third pole (the thought being that I’d need it to collect items for Brian and Seamus). I was happy to see that collecting items was easier–the drops for the suspenders were a lot easier than a lot of the ST items–and it was kind of amusing amassing a metric you-know-what-ton of fire extinguishers.

But now, I have nothing left to do. So I was excited when Brian became available…then instantly upset when I found out he costs clams.

A lot of players have been complaining about no land, crashes from too many animated things, and not having things to do. This event takes up a lot of real estate, has a ton of animated things…and now that people are finishing up on getting Chris, there’s really not anything left to do except twiddle our thumbs and wait.

I’m not sure what TinyCo’s goal was on this thing, but as for me, now that there’s nothing to do unless I want to buy clams, I’m definitely not going to be playing much at all for the foreseeable future. And my husband’s also not playing much anymore either, for many of the same reasons.

Thanks for letting me rant. The Tips team is always awesome though! ❤

  17. Well that’s it, I quit. Call it the straw that broke the camels back. I’ve lost the love for this game . I was already on edge after last weeks disastrous event and this has simply pushed me over the edge. 210 clams is nearly $10.00 real money for a costume.

I worked out after the last event that I had spent over $150.00 on this game so far. That’s the cost of two full length Premium gaming titles on PC or Consoles. Those games cost millions of dollars to develop and give 20+ hours high quality gameplay. What have I got for my money? A dozen or so characters that I hardly touch and a few useless costumes. I could keep playing as a free player but that feels like a second class experience. Frankly for $150.00 I feel like I should have every available building, character and decoration. Continually being nickelled and dimed really grates on me.

  18. Why do they even make the “main Family Guy characters” costumes premium in the first place? especially the cool-looking ones like Muscle Stewie, New Years Brian, Kilingon Meg, and now Firedog Brian?

      1. I liked the Star Trek event overall, it was nice to have separate areas but I can’t get into this event, I think that’s because the costumes have never been used in any episode of FG so I can’t relate lol

    1. Lol, I don’t want to sway you one way or the other Fred but all I’ll say is this…210 clams for a costume that will last no longer than a week, you’re 860 clams drop to 650 and maybe Seamus might cost clams too 😆 haha

Oh…erm…I’m a moderator aren’t I? I mean…yeah totally go for it, all characters are totally worth the hundreds of clams we spend 👍 😆

      1. You are killing me Rypod.. I have decided not to go with the Brian costume.. even if i get 25 clams for all 3.. Maybe at the end of this event, they will have a “Fire sale”.and this costume goes for maybe 60 with a 25 clam bonus..

I do want to thank who ever it was that posted about the smoke on the fires.. i had been clicking on the fires, and with a character standing on top of it (looking like Joan of Ark), I couldn’t click some of them… ..

  20. Can’t say i like the idea of paying clams for him. I was hoping they would give us a break after a lot of people shelled out money for star trek.
i think i will wait for seamus outfit before i buy this one.

  21. 👎NOPE!!!👎 I’m 100% passing on this! I was thinking all 3 skins would be available just to be unlocked by us collecting stuff just like Firefighter Chris…pretty bummed out about this coating 260 clams haha I haven’t had my clam total ever NEAR that number in a few months now. 😔

      1. ohh I was 50 off lmao! ..I still feel the same tho haha. Like another person had just commented that they don’t understand why the Family Guy MAIN characters’ skins are coating clams,: I really don’t understand that either! So it’s totally normal for us to think their skins should be freemium: for us players to unlock for free. Gahhh not cool 😩

    1. Autocorrect why in the hell are you changing “costing” into COATING that doesn’t even make sense LMAO😂😂😂

      1. The thing is, he WAS a popular choice, right up until people learned that he was a clam purchase. The fact that TC set it up to appear as if he was going to be craftable, putting it in Al’s, etc, was a d**k move on their part, and has left a bad taste in many mouths.

  23. Speaking of spending clams, I only see a clam price on the fire chiefs. Are they also premium or is that clam price just for impatient people? .

    Like

    1. Are the fire chiefs the fourth/fifth pole? At the mo, they cost clams, it could be an impatient thing as you mentioned but I reckon personally that they’ll stay as clam based people

      1. It’s a one time payment to unlock the fire chiefs. I’ve unlocked they cost two petrol cans each. They slay the blue angry monsters and win you a cap. Six caps are required for the mystery box. (Only one building in the mystery box the rest are decorations, mainly animated)

        Like

      2. I only have the first 2 poles and i can train firefighters and captains but chiefs are locked but can be unlocked for 135 clams. I just wanna know if its possible to get them without spending clams, and if so, when?

        Like

      3. So that means freemium players can’t clear blue monsters so can’t get hats so can’t open mystery boxes either. Am I right?

        Like

      4. The fire chiefs allow you to get mystery boxes, but you can also get essentially mystery boxes by taking out Angry Fire Creatures, and that doesn’t require any clams, just extra work. All the more reason to unlock the third pole if you haven’t already.

  24. I won’t be buying!! No way, this game has taken too much money off me already and he will probably be on for a day doing nothing as usual!

    Like

  25. Nope. I spent clams on the Star Trek characters but I won’t be spending 210 clams for a costume which will become obsolete and I will not see again after the next couple weeks. Not worth it.

    1. My feelings exactly Gen 😆 to my knowledge (and correct me if I’m wrong) but has Chris or Brian or Seamus ever even worn a firefighter outfit in the entire TV series? I don’t think they have so I’m not bothered about these costumes personally lol
