Star Trek Edition: Share your Tips!

I thought I would make a separate post for players to post their tips and hints they have found, so they are all in one place and easy to find!

This post is just for STAR TREK tips!

We will post a new one each district/event and bump it up to the top so players can find the post easy too!

If you have shared any tips on other posts, if you get the chance – please copy and paste them here so others can see!

  1. Oh, something else that I have noticed.. If you avoid the questlines, and just concentrate on the dropped items, you might wait longer.. As I do the questlines, I have noticed it drops items need to unlock characters quicker.. as an example-Peter press all of the buttons drops virus protection.. Well when it was in a questline, until I did that quest, it wasn’t really dropping the virus protection.. Once I got to that part of the questline, it started dropping those almost every time for me.. You had to collect 28 of them to get Data, Crusher and Herbert were not much help either.. Just a random thought out loud there.. tell me what you think…

  2. Any tips on how to get the Vulcan planet unlocked quickly to get the Tribble prize? I’m only level 5 right now, cuz I prepare taxes for a living during tax season and was working 10-12hr days through most of this event. They couldn’t have chosen a worse time to have this event. They’ve made everything sooooo hard to obtain, too, without spending a small fortune or not sleeping.

  3. Ok, I have a tip about the end of the week event, and the beginning of the next week… From about 4 hours until the new event starts.. Say if the next week’s event (say it starts at 6pm your local time-about 2pm), I quit clicking on everybody and everything.. Every building, character, room… It helps.. You never know what tinyco is going to make give an item. Usually, i try to set all of my characters on either 4, 6, or 8 hour tasks expiring right at the time when it is the week’s change. You just have to fight back the urge from clicking those little arrows, until after the new event get’s going.. Usually at the start of these weeks, I get a couple of the items right off of the bat..
    ,
This week, it looks like there are not going to be any new rooms, kinda like last week.. So all of the rooms that produce 2 crystal items, i have left out there, and the remaining free rooms, I have filled with one of each.. MAking sure to have one space potty, and one riker;’s bedroom. Those to me seem logical…

If I think of anything else, will try and add to this.. Hope this helps someone..

    1. So, basically, you gamble on a task (4,6 or 8 hours as these are the most commonly used to drop items) and make it finish when new content is released?

      1. I saw the Patrick Stewart cat food item. (Yay!)
I don’t see anything for George Takei. (Grr!)
What item does George Takei drop please?

I would’ve posted my question earlier, but the WordPress sign in doesn’t show up on my iPhone. 😦

  4. Anyone having issues with stewie’s lotion? The rare 8 hours task. I have only got 1 since last week. That’s like extra rare.

    1. Or, she did. I noticed this too and had her on the 1 hour task most of the last 2 days. I just went to put her on it again and it had been changed to 5 instead of 50. Sigh.

  5. Would you go for Data, Stewie or Picard? I’m aiming at Stewie, but maybe Picard is to prefer first. What’s your plan?

    Like

      1. For me is Data. I am almost done with Data. I have 2 days left for Picard with the dark matter. 12 at the moment. Nothing is working for me with Stewie and the lotion. 4 days for 2 lotion on 8 hours task. no way it’s easier.

    1. I’m just going for whoever I get all the items for first, although stewie is probably easiest and most useful as he can fight Borg Bertram.

  6. Everyone before had experience difficulty, but what I’ve been having is Dilithium issues! Can people please impart some wisdom on how to best farm these magic crystals? I regret not buying one of the mines when the event started, so my situation is basically all-freemium except for the characters (Spock, Q, Guinan, Klingon Meg). I am about to unlock Crusher and Spock and Stewie, but only if I can get enough crystals. I keep farming Lois’ Get Frisky in the Tubes task, but I don’t know what other tasks are good. I also never use the away missions, so if some have been really successful for you, please share. I have no idea whether I’ll be able to get Picard or Kirk… Thanks for the help! Love the site!!!

    1. Some of the transporter missions have prizes of between 400-750 crystals with reasonable frequency. Try those. I have been using whichever one has another drop I’m also wanting (phaser energy or replicator energy) at the time.

    2. Hi all, long time reader, first time poster. I’m trying to boost my dilithium supply, hoping to get Kirk. I have sent Klingon meg on the away mission to Acapella xii 5 times so far and got 750DLC, 750DLC, 450DLC, 2 ore and 1 fail. Worth doing if you need crystals it would seem. LLAP

  7. Two tips for anyone who’s unlocked the new content:

1.If you still need space condoms for vulcan quagmire but also need to unlock the new characters/costumes, only shoot the romulan warship and not the petercraft. I just got a space condom from hitting the romulan warship, which only needs one hit whereas the petercraft needs two.

    2. This is more helpful for players who haven’t played any previous events, but is also a good reminder. When fighting borg bertram, you can get a headstart when he recharges. If two or more characters are fighting him and have ticks on their heads but not all are needed to take his HP down to 0, DON’T PRESS THE TICK ON THE OTHER CHARACTER(S). Wait until he comes back then press the tick, so the 4 hours waiting time is effectively skipped.
For example, if Geordi and Chris are fighting and he has 1 HP left, I only press the tick on Geordi. When the new borg bertram comes back after 4 hours, Chris would already have a tick and if i press this now, borg bertram will lose HP instanly and i still have all the time left.
This is the same trick we used at Halloween and Christmas to destroy the stay-puft man and yeti, respectively.

      1. For freemium players with just two characters you also should spend 2 clams each for Chris and Geordi to rush an attack with half an hour left so that you get six rounds of hits rather than just five. Doesn’t guarantee success but 12 + 1 rolls to get 18 is a lot better than 10 + 1.

Don’t replicate the Guardian of Forever until after you unlock Picard otherwise you will need to defeat Bertram three times rather than just two.

        Like

      2. Once you do have Picard (or Stewie) unlocked it might be an idea to gamble on getting some of Klingon Chris’s quests out of the way this week – let Chris attack once or twice then send him off. It’ll depend on how many HPs the level five Bertram has – I am just thinking Chris may be more needed to maintain a run on level five Bertrams so there may not be time next week if Consuela also needs dark matter.

    1. Hi Saad,
I’m not getting petercraft anymore only the warbird since my update. Are they both still appearing for you?

But my tip is related….I found when fighting the warbirds, I had to shoot both the warbird plus an asteroid (more than one item destroyed) to get condoms for Vulcan quagmire. If I only shot the warbird (1 item destroyed), it dropped the chip. Did it three times both ways and it happened every time. So if anyone is having trouble getting condoms, try this. (So many strange things said during this game…and now heranus is up….more giggles by rypod?!?!)

      Like

      1. Agreed. Heranus is open is pretty brilliant.
But I hope the trick works for anyone having a hard time getting condoms, it’s consistently working for me.

      2. That is not true for me so I am thinking it is random. The first 4 shots in hot no asteroids and them 2 with asteroids and for one condom and 1 chip

        Like

      3. I should proof read before I send. 6 shots. 4 with no asteroids and got 4 condoms, 2 shots with asteroids and I got one each condom and the other thing

        Like

  8. I would NOT use the phaser energy to obtain emotion chips for data just yet… If you have to buy them, they are 2 clams each. It would cost 50 clams to buy them all. It would cost way more than 50 to rush tasks if you need phaser energy right away. I am holding off until the last possible moment to use phaser energy for emotion chips as I feel they will be needed later on and you may need the characters for other tasks.

    1. The large Peter ship you needed to hit twice is gone. Hit the new cloaking ship once and you get a condom. Wait until there are some meteors on it too first for more points

  9. Tip for the new district if you’re behind on schedule: skip Vulcan Quagmire completely and perhaps Beverly Crusher as well (55 Hypospray is ridiculous with only one borg-clearing character). The Holodeck district seems more reasonable and the characters there should be unlockable before the end of the event.

    1. How is it that It’s always a few hours every time? What’s the deal? Where I work if a deadline isn’t going to made on schedule we work overtime to make sure it does. It’s a fairly simple business model. But even so, in the grand scheme of things, how is it the the deadline is missed by a few hours? Everytime?

  12. The vulcan high command building costs 1000 crystals and takes 24 hours to build, but it pays out 400 xp and you can build more than 1.
I’ve had some trouble with xp in previous weeks, but I built 2 vulcan high commands back to back starting about 3/4 of the way through level 6 and by the time the second one was built I was on level 8. So 2 days for about 1.5 levels is pretty impressive.

    1. I should add that it only pays out 400 when you first finish building it. After that it has about a standard payout when compared to the other buildings.

Im not saying that i came up with the tips but thats a lot of coincidence where i post a tip up and never hear a thank u and then a few days later they put up a whole post and people thank them. I dont care about getting credit but taken them and act as though u came up with it, THAT bugs me. U gurls here always thank people for their advice and tips so ima post my tips here for u instead. And building a bar is a great way to build xp, dont listen to them addicts over there and build a ejector casket. Its dumb cuz u need 2k dilithium to build one but the bar cost 0 dilithium and you probably have hundreds of them ores now with the way the drop rates are going And have little use for them (for now). U need dilithium though and 2k is way too much for building xp. Also with the drop rates its not worth doing room swapping anymore. most of them guarantee a drop every time now. I’ve got everyone and everything that doesnt cost clams up to this point. Actually got a lot of free clams from this event too. Keep up the good work gurls.

      1. I spend a great deal of time on both sites, I think both combined give me the most advantage in the game and rarely, if ever, do I see them refer to this site and if they do, it’s in a respectful manner. I thank both of the sites for keeping us updated on everything for this game. With that being said, people post tips all the time and just because the site posts a whole page about the tip, it doesn’t necessarily mean they copied it. Maybe they hadn’t had the chance to post it, since these bloggers have lives after all, and the post comes late. And chances are you aren’t the only one to have figured the tip out, so I wouldn’t get my panties in a bunch because someone else found the same tip I found. After all, we’re here to help each other.

  15. My tip? Hm. Being that the main questline is needed to move onto the next phase — If you feel like looking ahead in questline, put whatever characters are going to be needed a little bit ahead. That way when you get to that point, just tap the completed quests when it’s time. No down time. Of course this applies to the game in general if you’d like, but with how tight in between phases can be, it can help.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. The main quest line isn’t needed to move onto the next phase, starfleet level is. Last week I hadn’t finished the main quest line as it needed me to unlock locutus but I could unlock the new content as I had a high enough starfleet level.

  16. In shooting the shielded petercraft, lead your target. Place the reticle where it will be and fire when it gets there. This combined with the other tip of being patient for one the moves a bit slower and moves a longer distance across the screen makes for an easier time shooting ships.

  18. If you can login regularly, and need XP, send Peter on his 1 hour task–it earns 12 SF XP. If you need dilithium, send Lois on her 1 hour task- it earns a lot of dilithium (50, I believe). Typically, I’ve been sending them both on the 6 hour tasks for energy 2x a day and overnight, then do the 1 hour tasks a few times at night since I can’t get a 4th 6 hour energy task in and collect it before I go to sleep.

    Like

  19. 1. When you need to shoot the unarmed petercraft for items, follow around the large smooth rock and shoot it when it intersects with the petercraft. Shooting both at the same time increases item drop potential (if you aren’t getting 100% after it was nerfed), following the rock insures that you shoot the correct one, and you gain experience and event currency.

    2. In your main town, remove all roads and make an area (about 6 to 9 squares) for your outside task people to congregate. Build all event buildings beside it. Move buildings where characters go to do event related tasks to beside the area as well. Now you have a place to quickly go and collect your event related items and currency rather than collecting from the whole town every time!

    3. Collect from characters on quest related tasks FIRST (only after Tribble as they disappear). Unlocking the next level of a quest may require you to do a task or tasks that you already have a character doing. Collecting from them then instantly fulfills that part of the quest.

    4. Don’t immediately jump in and do a 24 hour task with a character if a quest asks for it. Wait and fulfill other quests first and always do the shorter quest related tasks before it. Odds are one (or more) of them will also request the same task meaning you only have to tie the character up once instead of two or more times.

    5. Put quests on hold for item collecting. It’s more important to work towards unlocking the next character or skin than completing a quest. Only do quests that have short tasks or don’t interfere with item collecting.

    6. Set an allam on your phone to remind you to check your game

    7. Crew for missions should be chosen on what they drop on regular tasks. Locutus drops nothing. Riker is mostly just used for quests once you have enough of the synthesizer item he drops. When they aren’t needed on a specific mission, send them off for a chance to get phaser energy which is badly needed to get the condoms for Quagmire’s costume.

    8. Zooming all the way out or fast scrolling across your town or space station increases the chance of crashing. To decrease crashing… The default zoom or slightly out from that is best. Scroll at a normal pace (seeing a lag or a crash should tell you how fast is too fast). Put previous event characters on long indoor tasks (12-24 hour) to keep them out of the way. Core game characters shouldn’t be put on anything longer than 8 hour tasks (save maybe higher districts) unless the task if for a quest or item drop just in case they are called for to do a quest related task. Indoor tasks help with game stability. Collect from a few characters at a time and send them off on tasks rather than collecting from every character and building at once.

    9. Build 2 of each room that drops any of the energy or synthesizer items. If a character needs a room to exist to get an item to unlock them (unless the item can be easily gotten with tasks), build that room first and then build over it the first chance you get (check to make sure there is not a task asking you to build it later though.

    10. When a character has multiple tasks to contribute to unlocking characters, conceder several facts to decide which. An item that has 2 or less characters that can drop (or uncommon items that you need an extreme volume of) is usually priority. Balance it out if possible so that the locked character/skin will unlock each item about the same time. Check out rarity (estimation from my research is very common 80-100%, common 60-80%, uncommon 40-60%, rare 20-40%, extra rare 10-20%, and epic 5-10%), volume needed, and task length (especially if you will be going away a while or going to bed soon).
~ Example 1: Only 1 character drops an item and it is the only way to get it. That should be their only task.
~ Example 2: Klingon Chris drops phaser energy and falicium. Phaser energy has a higher drop rate, but phaser energy doesn’t always translate into drops when shooting at the Petercraft (misfires, misses, and so on). It really depends on how confident you are in your shooting ability.
~ Example 3: Item 1 is uncommon with a 10 hour timer. Item 2 is extra rare with a 2 hour timer meaning item 1 is actually MORE rare than item 2 because of the longer timer. Remember that when figuring out which task to send that character on.
~ Example 4: You are about to be away for an extended period. Put everyone with 2 drop possibilities on their longer tasks (or tasks that reflect how long you will be away) UNLESS a character is the only one that drops an item, or you really need to stock up on energy or synthesizer materials then go for the shorter tasks. Arrange your town like I described in tip #2 and set a lunchtime reminder on your phone to quickly grab everything without cutting into your meal time too much.

Rather than the guaranteed 4 hypospray from building brand new per day (20 hour total), I feel I get more total hypospray from the 14 – 18 non guaranteed chances from each 2 hour build per day.

    1. Yh I feel that too, but I think it’s worth rebuilding for 10 hours if you know you won’t be active for a long time e.g. Sleeping. That’s the only time I rebuild otherwise I wait 2 hours instead too.

      2. Lol no I’m 22 years old actually but what does that have to do with anything? I just think the drop rate is quite low so it’s worth waiting 10 hours for a guaranteed drop when you know you won’t be playing for about 7 hours anyway.

      4. Sorry, I just meant teenagers like (and physiologically need) their sleep. They can sleep ten hours straight easily. Whereas when you’re older half waking early (even you go back for a snooze) is not an issue.

Two hour task at start of six hour sleep leaves another two by two hours in the morning including a two hour snooze. So you only lose four hours, not eight.

  21. If you already have plenty of Transporter energy send Peter, Locutus and other non-item generating characters on away missions to nom-nomulus. There’s a chance of getting three Phaser Energy which at this stage of the event is more important than Transporter energy.

If you have already have Locutus and Starfleet Lois save your Phaser Energy until you have all the other items for Vulcan Quagmire. There’s no advantage to using them as you earn them, and there’s a chance that Tinyco may reduce the number of Space Condoms required for Vulcan Quagmire.

When playing the Petercraft minigame BE PATIENT. You don’t need to shoot every time the Petercraft appears. Wait for the Petercraft that move horizontally or vertically across the center of the viewscreen. These are much easier to hit than the ones that skirt the edges of the viewscreen. Move your targeting reticule around so that you can shoot the Petercraft quickly once it appears on screen. This makes it easier to get in a second shot on the Shielded Petercraft.

While Tinyco have improved the drop rates from the Enterprise rooms its still not 100%. If you aren’t going to be playing for 8-10 hours (ie you sleep like a normal human being) then rebuild as many rooms as you can for a 100% item drop rate when you play again.

Don’t completely ignore the quest lines in your search for items. Some item drops such as Borg and Redshirts only become available once you have advanced the questline sufficiently.

Upgrade the Warp Core as soon as possible even if you haven’t finished all the quests from the previous week. Upgrading the Warp Core allows you unlock new areas of the ship and start collecting items towards the next weeks characters as early as possible.

Play regularly. You’ll do much better if you can login every 2-3 hours to complete tasks and collect items than if you only play once or twice a day.

Read Family Guy Tips posts AND the comments regularly. There is a lot of useful information in the comments section. I try to read Family Guy Tips at least once per day.

    1. Just popped back to say thanks for the magnificent tip about saving the Phaser energy until I had all the other items for Vulcan Quagmire in case Tiny Co made it easier. As a result of the changes my 37 phaser energy against the Warbird not only got me the rest of the item I needed for Quagmire (as they would have on the shielded Petership) but also got me most of the chips for Data!

      2. If I remember correctly, it gave me 3 bars of xp at sf level 7 while the casket ejector gave me about 6 or 7 at sf level 5. So it’s your choice how much you spend as the casket ejector gives more xp but also requires more to craft.

      3. No bonus XP when you first build it like Zork said above? Bummer, guess I have to keep smashing tribbles so I can get another casket ejector.

      4. Yes but it wasn’t available when I first made the tip, also the casket ejector is an instant build compared to the 1day build for the High Command building.

  22. You can start off with building the casket ejector gets you tons of xp and that you need to shoot the larger Peter ship twice before it goes off the screen to get a reward which I have been able to do 3 times and screwed it up at least 15 times bc of the lag in the game. Seriously switch it to 2 hits anytime.

    1. If you wait a few minutes before you start, the lag dissipates… oh, and if you turn the game sideways while shooting it helps considerably (use your left hand to press the fire button).
