Guide to Valentine’s Day!

UPDATED: Arnie has been added!

Love is in the Air… The update has finally hit and we have so much in our games! Find out everything you will need to know about the Valentine’s Day event – WEEK 1!

image

When you first go in your game, you will notice the snow has all melted… And this pop-up:

image

Changes to PDA Couples

– Increased Spawn Count to 8 of each
– Increased Countdown Time to 3 minutes (from two minutes)
– Decreased Spawn timer from 4 hours to 3 hours

TinyCo are still looking for a way to make it clearer which are the Fighting or Enamored couples, so it will change soon!

TIP from AnothrAddict: Hint for LOVE couples. When the couple stops, he lifts his leg.

TIP from JP: If I may share a tip with you regards the PDA couple: what I did was first store in the inventory all unnecessary characters that don’t help with this event as well as all moving decos that may be distracting to study the couples’ movements. Then I proceeded to remove all the roads in my city except for a little straight strip of road in front of Peter’s house since that’s where my game starts at whenever I load the game. The PDA couples will then spawn on this strip of road in front of Peter’s house. Without any distractions from other character and moving decos roaming about, I wait until the man of the couple raises his leg to tap them for a heart or wait until the woman of the couple smacks the man to tap them for a broken heart.

Hope I was clear enough as this way is working out fine to get heart/broken hearts 😛

Changes to PDA couples!

Just to be clear about the new animation you’ll be seeing:

You’ll now see a little animation above their head of which heart they’ll drop.

Fighting couples = a cloud of broken purple hearts will be animating above their heads
Enamored couples = a cloud of red full hearts will be animation above their heads

Hope this helps!

image

The event will end on 26th February 2015!

image

The event currency is Homemade Valentine’s (HV).

image

There are lots of Buildings and Decorations you can buy with HV… And the buildings earn you MORE HV (keep reading to find out how much each building earns)! Lots of characters can help out too, more details about those can be found below… (Find out which characters earn HV here)

We have a new feature that is unlike anything we have seen in our games before… The Affection Meter (AM)!

image

The AM works like this – you collect full hearts for a LOVE prize or you collect broken hearts for a HATE prize. The LOVE red hearts make the AM move up, the HATE blue broken hearts make the AM move down!

image

You can only win one prize per character… So you have to choose ONE of the prizes from the selection and work to earn the corresponding hearts to make the AM go up or down, depending on the prize you want to win! You CANNOT have both prizes!

image

You collect LOVE/HATE hearts from PDA Couples! They spawn every 3 hours, but be quick because when they appear… They only swarm your Quahog for 3 minutes before they have scrambled away again! You need to shoo them quickly, but carefully! Make sure you shoo the correct couples, otherwise your AM will move in the wrong direction!

image

You need to shoo ANGRY COUPLES to fill the HATE section, but if you want the LOVE PRIZE… avoid the Angry Couples, and make sure you only shoo the Enamored Couples, so your AM only goes up! You need to watch them until they STOP to be able to tell what type of couple they are…

image

After finishing and collecting either the LOVE or HATE prize for one character, the AM will reset and you start again for the next character!

image

You can check your progress or which character you are collecting LOVE/HATE hearts for by going to the Valentine’s event area, the tapping the cupid in his chair, you will be able to see how many hearts are needed to win the prize (in this example, you need 15 LOVE or 15 HATE, in the example below for Peter’s prizes… You need 50 LOVE or 50 HATE):

image

image

image

This screen shows you what prizes you can win for Quagmire and Peter.

image

For Quagmire, you can choose from:
image

– HATE PRIZE: Crimes of Passion Archery Set
image

– LOVE PRIZE: Clammy Secrets (drops items needed to unlock Ida Davis)

For Peter, you can choose from:
image

– HATE PRIZE: Cool Your Jets Hot Tub
image

– LOVE PRIZE: Wicked Cocoa Chocolatier

As you can see, there are 4 more characters that will fill up the remaining locked spaces, meaning there are another 8 prizes to be revealed!

These are the FEATURED ITEMS (usually premium items that drop items and a costume):

image

The new skin for the Griffin House helps by dropping items for Handsome Peter, it will ALWAYS drop one of the items required, and costs 100 Clams!

image

The other featured premium item is the Valentine’s Mystery Box – Cupid Brian Box:
image

You can win the following buildings, decorations, and currency from the Cupid Brian Box (75 clams).
image

– NotBadCupid (earns: 12 HV and XP30 every 8 hours)
image

– Holderdowner 5000 (Deco)
image

– Perennial Pervmobile (moving deco)
image

– Love Drone Delivery Service (produces tons of HV = earns: 1600 HV and XP45 every 16 hours)
image

– 100 Clams
image

– 150 Clams
image

– 250 Homemade Valentines
image

– 500 Homemade Valentines

Buildings and decoration prizes will not repeat, but currency prizes can repeat.

The next episode of the Valentine’s event will happen next Thursday, on the 12th February! You need to work on completing “The Beautiful People Pt. 10” questline to see week 2 content:

image

The café that we teased in our newsletter is in this screen… It is the place where you can send characters on a date but not until week 2! It is still wrapped up in a bow in the event area of your Quahog, waiting for its grand opening!

image

There is also a sneak peak of what the story next week could be about (Glenda Vajmire…)!

image

As we know already, the event currency is HOMEMADE VALENTINE’S (HV)!

image

These can be earned by sending Peter, Quagmire and Joe on their workout tasks, as well as lots of other characters/tasks which you can be found here, so they can shape up!

image

Once you earn HV’s, you can use them to buy lots of Valentine themed items from the event tab in your Shop:

    1. Actually you’re wrong. “It’s” is a shortened form of “it is” whereas “its” is a possessive pronoun meaning “of it”. Google “it’s vs its” if you don’t believe me. I think elementary school might have been too difficult for you maybe.

      1. 1. Your statement just verifies that he was correct he said it should be “its” NOT “it’s ”

        2. This is a blog about a mobile phone game go write a letter to some one who cares

  1. I play for FREE. I won’t be bothering with this.

What we’ve learned from the winter event is that you need to spend real $$$ to really earn everything. Either to speed things up before the event ends or to obtain items. The last event showed this clearly. What tiny fraction of a % of the population actually got Jesus, for instance?

If you are like me and don’t have tons of clams, and refuse to shell out $$ for a free game, you won’t get very far, so stick to the main quest.

    1. I’m sorry but you’re wrong. I also play fully freemium but I’ve got every character, costume, building and any other items from every event if it didn’t have a set clam price. I got king butt, Cleveland, all 4 freemium comic con people, George Takei, Jesus, Santa, jasper, babs, Jillian, Diane, mr weed, Francis and every costume that didn’t cost clams (like New Years Brian). I even spent clams I earned for free on Fillion, alien and Freddy Krueger. I’ve even unlocked Pawtucket pat so sticking to the main quest line only would be pointless.

I’m proof you don’t “need to spend real $$$ to really earn everything”. If that’s what you learnt, then I must be a different class. 😎

      1. I don’t believe you. Why?

You’re the same guy who accused the “grammar nazi” of being wrong about “it’s vs its”, and you were 180 degrees WRONG about calling him out! HAHAH.

      2. Yes I’m the same guy, well done for noticing. I made a mistake with the grammar guy I didn’t realize the post was updated. I apologise to SC.
But that doesn’t change the fact I have achieved what I have in these events. If you don’t want to believe me, then don’t, but my event achievements are true and I stand by everything I said to you earlier.

      3. Ha, I’ve got u beat. Well not really cuz I don’t have Fillion or alien but I got Bruce willis, predator, all 4 of the first clam character (buzz, etc.) And I even got cripple ton and gold Peter statue and a bunch for only 300 clams. It was one of those events. But yeah i got a lot and totally a freemium. U can do it if u spend enough time on this game.

      4. I have hold peter and the first 4 clan characters (buzz, jake etc.) as well but was talking specifically about tees special events.
Anyway I fully agree with your point about not having to spend clams. I was saying the exact same thing but this guy “doesn’t believe me”. Hopefully we’ve both shown him what freemium players can achieve.

    2. Not really that hard actually. I got jesus and never paid for anything. That’s why I like family guy, you can pay to move things along faster but I’ve always been able to finish everything in the time provided without paying unlike another similar game

      1. I agree, as would most freemium players but Chilaxarilla won’t believe you for done reason which is completely unrelated to this topic.

  2. Hint for LOVE couples. When the couple stops, he lifts his leg. Not sure about the hate as I want the love prizes and this two minute business is killing me. I wish their was a countdown for when the couples were going to reappear.

      1. Look at me, all famous. 😛
I agree with JPs tip, I also removed all NPCs and the majority of my roads, this has helped me greatly. Great minds think alike.

      2. Both tips have helped me! 🙂 well done and thanks for sharing… I just sit watching their legs, and posture now! I noticed that you can tell when they stop as LOVE couples are tilted and then the leg goes up, whereas the HATE couples stand upright, and the woman puts her hand on the man’s chest before slapping him!

  3. Clammy Secrets: ♡ = 8
    XP = 20
    Time: 4 hours.

It awards immediately by a Quagmire pop-up screen. Then Peter’s starts.

Peter needs 50 (FIFTY!) hate or love hearts for his prize. Enjoy your fun. 🙂

  4. It would be really nice if the couples had something different about them other than waiting for them to stop kissing and watch if they hug or slap. Maybe slightly different colored cloths or hair color…anything that would make it easier to identify. So far, I have only been able to click on 1 or sometimes 2 couples during the time limit after making sure they are the ones I want. Even then, I have mistakenly clicked on the wrong couples. So far with 4 attempts, I have only 3 Love on the meter.

I am going to try to remove roads and see if the couples will be constrained to a smaller area.

    Like

    1. Confirmed…..the couples stick only to roads. Eliminating all but one section made them easy to locate. I left a decent sized section that was not obstructed by buildings. Word of advice, though, if you try this method: Keep the road area large enough that you can follow a single couple until they display affection or slapping. Otherwise, it is easy to lose track of which one you were following.

In my 4 previous attempts, I netted 3 Love. In this single attempt with a smaller road section, I netted 3 Love. (4 Love, 1 Heartbreak by accident).

Definitely worth the effort of removing my roads.

  5. WHY SUCH HUGE BUILDINGS??? It’s like the more we ask for smaller buildings the bigger they get. Tunnel of self love is 10×10!!!! Thats massive even for this game’s standards. Considering its a square, they could have made it any size, even 4×4, but they needed double figures for some reason. The same goes for beach body gym, which is smaller at 7×7 but still too big for the space available. The gazebo is the only one I’m happy with tbh at 3×3, so if they can make smaller buildings then why don’t they????

  6. Do you have any additional stats for Peter’s prizes? Does either item help with anything in the future? Thanks for the tip about clammy secrets, otherwise I wouldn’t have known which one to pick

      1. You need 50 LOVE hearts or 50 HATE hearts for Peter prizes! 🙂 still no idea whether they will be useful, personally,I am going for the building (Chocolatier) as it has a higher chance of being useful and earn rent than a hot tub…

  7. Even after the Valentines update the game is still crashing on a regular basis and now it is causing me to lose the ability to find and click on the couples because if I zoom out even a little and scroll around the town the game crashes. If the game has not saved my most recent progress I lose that and since there’s a two minute timer on the couples I’ve already lost some of that benefit. I have contacted TinyCo by email with absolutely no reply. I have sent every bug report that the game would allow with absolutely no response TinyCo gets not one sent from me until they fix this and I was a premium player before all these crashes.

    Like

      1. TinyCo has not responded to anything I reported. Not in my crash reports or my direct request for assistance through their website. Im on a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android Kit Kat. The thing is I play a lot of other games on it and never have any issues at all including the notoriously flaky GTA San Andres. (I do have the server issues but none of the memory or lag issues that others have reported)

I am (was) a premium player and have almost a fully complete game. I started a bit before the ComicCon event and I have spent a lot of real life money over the time I have been playing. My town is very full but not stuffed.

I have put the moving decorations back in storage with no change. I have the game running locally and have tried running from SDHC but neither has had any noticeable effect. The only thing I have not tried is nuking my town and starting over with far less buildings. Seems bad business that if we accumulate too much “Stuff” that the game “Quest for Stuff” would crash more often.

Anyhow I don’t want to Grind My Gears here I will save if for the right post.
Thanks for listening and being there for all of us.

  8. If the couples looked different, we might be able to actually get the right hearts. Right now there are only kissing couples, and half of them drops broken hearts..

  9. No surprise there’s already glitches. I suddenly found myself staring at 3 snowmen walking through my town. One was the moving deco I won, but the other two were clearable and dropped some HV for me :D. So a lil glitch but a happy one. Sadly no more loving snowmen are walking around my town.

  10. 2 minute window every 4 hours while having to zoom in on them and figure out if good or bad = major suckage

Having NO WAY to get BOTH items = super duper suckage.

Quagmire will have to be the building for me, but Peter…. I am majorly torn.

I did pop on the Cat HV thing. I got the Gingerbread House for Christmas at the same cost and have not regretted it once. 🙂

3.5 hours for Quests til I am able to move on…. sigh. At least 3 new buildings are building for me. 🙂

  11. Is it just me or the couples difficult to see which heart you will get from them.

I could have swore I clicked on a make out couple and still got a broken heart.

Plus the 2 min time restraint makes it a challenge for crowded towns.

    Like

    1. Not just you, I had the same thing while clearing the 5 love couples for the questline, I clicked on 2 kissing couples but got broken hearts. Tried to force close my game to erase the action, but was still collected. Wish there was a way to NOT collect a heart once dropped so you don’t lose progress on the AM. I sent a msg to TC about this explaining that its less of a “hunt” and more of a “slowly stalk”. And i totally agree about the timer with crowded towns. On more than one occasion the couple stops behind a building and can see what they’re doing and I dont wana risk getting the wrong heart.

      Like

      1. Every time he couples stop behind a building so I can’t see any of them. Do I have to take out the roads to play?
