What really grinds YOUR gears?

Welcome to our – ‘What Really Grinds Your Gears?’ post – come and share ‘What Really Grinds Your Gears’ with the FG: Tips team!

Lots of events and content updates have been bombarding us all lately, so there must be something that has ground your gears to dust at some point!

We are nearing the end of the pet weekend, has there been anything in particular that has almost made you tap that uninstall button?!

We would really like to hear what was grinding your gears – is it the quests that can’t be completed unless you spend Clams? Is it because you haven’t been able to watch any videos and earn any free Clams? Is it the entire pet weekend? What about the drop rates for tap handles? Or Dulcet Tones? Whatever it is, we would love to hear what has been grinding your gears in the last week!

  1. 《GRINDING》Three Things 《Grinding》

    1. Whats the deal with the video Patches that won’t play videos? Mine has now just stopped showing up somaybe Tinyco is working on it. But this one feels like a total fail for Tinyco.

    2. I busted patootie to get the infinite pee machine and it’s waaaayyyy toooo big. Its only a 3×3 footprint but it’s taller than the Barrington Hotel.

    3. Do I even have to say it? CRASHING!
I swipe from one side of Quahog to the other and CRASH!
I tap more than 20ish buildings at a time and CRASH!
I set up 20ish Quahogians on tasks and CRASH!
Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! (Wait wrong show.)
Meg Meg! Meg! STOP crashing my game.
Seriously though next big update it will need to be fixed because I’m not buying another clam until I go a whole day without a crash. (Tinyco you listening? )

    1. The dimensions of things in general make no sense in this game–even though I think the infinite pee machine earns money I’m crafting it, placing it in town and then hopefully placing it in inventory (unless it’s like the NYE building and unstorable) if it was the height of the gold statues I could make it work but taller than a hotel– pass.

  2. Having two consecutive 20 hour landscaping jobs to start the district – bit of a grind.

Having just spent ages grinding up the Mayor from six to seven to complete his quest-line I was annoyed that he is not able to drop his item for District 10 as he needs to be level 12. Yes, I understand many players have been waiting months for a new district and are maxxxed out. But being a District rather than special event that all newer and new players will be coming to it seems a little unwise to default to needing a character unlocked in only the previous district to be Level 12. I think that extra opportunity should have been given to a character more than one District in the past.

  3. The tap handles are a patience game.. It is just slow going.. I don’t know if this happens or not.. But I have discovered with the game, the drop rate increases as you get other things out of the way..

I will give you and example.. I am waiting on tap handles for the infinite pee machine, but went ahead and got the beer bottle bush out of the way, and the pyramid of beers. Since I have done this, my tap handles are dropping a little faster.. Was basically one a day, now, I have actually gotten 2 at the same time from different characters..

Like I said, I am not sure if it is just luck of the draw or not, but I think I see a difference..

      1. We should not have to remove buildings or decorations (which they continue to give us in-game with no space to place) to smooth out the game play. I play Tapped Out and my Springfield is massive with many decorations and characters and I don’t experience the freezing/stalling BS I get in FGQFS.

TinyCo replied to my query about the constant freezing and crashing by saying the game’s memory requirements may not allow it run smoothly on all devices – specifically those with 512mb of RAM or less. They are “working on” decreasing the memory demand of their app but cannot guarantee full functionality on these lower memory devices. They also suggest clearing the Cache and closing all other apps and restarting your device.

    1. Marlo- I had that problem SO much. Have you tried nuking the town, and rebuilding…? I did, and the crashes have virtually stopped. (I had a LOT of decos that I didn’t really care for still out, given the pace of quests and such- I think “redrawing” all the buildings and decos puts strain on the program/device, so getting them out of the way seems to have helped immensely.

Also, if you click on the character portraits to assign them jobs, zoom (all the way) in before you do.

  4. Drop rates are slow on some items and kinda annoyed I can’t do these quests without paying clams. On the Brightside I did purchase a flaming chicken because the price was actually fair and not hundreds of clam for a character like normal.

      1. Speaking if levelling up. It doesn’t make sense how most characters that have stuck around from the beginning max at 15, but peter and everyone from comic con onwards maxes at 25. It’s not a crucial error but the inconsistency is annoying. Why can’t everyone have the same maximum?

  5. It was annoying that the pet weekend event was only premium, but it’s ok. I’m just pretending it never happened lol.
The only thing that’s grinding my gears though is the drop rate for tap handles. It takes 2 days to get 1 but Tricia is even worse, she still hasn’t dropped one.
