This is the full walkthrough of this weekend’s events. If you want to read a very specific post about all-things Rupert, check out our Rupert post here! So, BIG-TIME SPOILERS AHEAD! You don’t even need to have Stewie unlocked to participate in this event! Click to read more:
First-off, out of NOWHERE, right when this update hit, I got this pop-up:
It looks like all the XP we’ve been earning since achieving level 40 wasn’t just being flushed down the toilet! The game was saving our XP numbers, and now out of nowhere it says I’m at level 50. Oh, wait a minute… it still means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! (no clams, no coins, nothing for levelling-up). 50 is a better arbitrary number than 40 though I guess, so it’s still a fun change in my book, and it’ll give folks more to shoot for.
Next, you’ll notice a new little blue button in the bottom right area of your screen. Until 10 pm PDT Saturday, this was a giraffe, until 10 pm Sunday, it was an octopus, and now it has changed to a green dinosaur. After tapping on this toy, you are introduced to this weekend’s game. ***This picture was from the original launch of the update and shows a noon change time (it’s now 10 pm PDT) and giraffes (again, now it’s dinosaurs)***
This weekend’s new content involves helping Stewie in his quest for collecting toys for the guests of his weekend tea party. The type of toy will also change on Sunday and Monday at 10 pm PDT, with the game ending some time Tuesday. The toys are collected at the Uncommon drop rate by these 4-hour tasks:
Peter – Cook Disgusting Vegetables
Chris – Fat Kid Hula-Hoop
Bruce – Be a Good Listener
Quagmire – Fornicate With Giraffes
**At 10 pm PDT, your daily toy counter (the number next to the toy on your main screen) resets to 0. BUT, if you had Peter, Chris, Bruce, or Quagmire on a toy-earning task before 10 pm, it seamlessly rolls into earning the new toy when the job finishes.***
Also, new items are now on splash screens and found in your purchase menu to help in your giraffe collecting: (***note that the Tea Party Mystery Box shown here is only there when you’re at either 6, 14, or 24 daily toys and are ready to open a box***)
Both new “buildings” are unnecessarily small & unassuming in my opinion for the giant amount of clams they cost; but each does drop a toy every time guaranteed (and the type of toy does change daily to help you through the whole event).
I did not buy a topiary (drops a toy, $20 & 15 XP every 2 hrs), but I did buy the SandBox (drops a toy, $30 & 20XP every 4 hrs). Can’t help but wonder aloud if it would have been nice to have made ONE of these two purchasable with COINS (maybe $10-$20k) and the other with clams? #TinyCoCashGrab #SMH #FacePalm
Also as you can see in the picture above, there is now a Tea Party Mystery Box! Opening the box is the reward for hitting the various levels of daily toys (6, 14, or 24), and the box can only be opened three times with each toy. **note again: this mystery box only shows in your purchase menu when you’ve hit a level and the box is ready to be opened**
Spotlights / Pawtucket Ale Truck / Lobster Shanty Restaurant / Peter’s Pirate Car / Herbert’s Ice Cream Truck / Koi Pond / Big Bubbly Fountain / Dansu Dansu Building / Gold Digger Island / Stewie Flower / Stewie Billboard / playable character RUPERT!!!!
***Initially 20 clams were included as a potential prize for the box, which made for 13 total prizes. They were removed at some point early in the event, and we got no reports of anyone actually winning them before they disappeared***
As you collect the daily toys, a bar will fill in at the top right of your screen, showing where you currently are in relation to the max daily limit of 24 toys.
When you hit each level (6, 14, and 24), this screen pops up:
And you are now allowed to open the Tea Party Mystery Box once (for what it’s worth, I got an Ice Cream Truck on my first chance–BOO! Then I got RUPERT on my second chance!!!). Being that you can open the box three times per toy, this means you could get a maximum of twelve cracks at the box. Being that I count 12 possible gifts inside the box, if you are diligent and open every possible box, YOU WILL GET RUPERT! (and boy is he worth it)
The only gripes I have with this event are that all four of the toy-earning characters are heavily involved with LONG tasks for unlocking Stewie (like Bruce’s 20-hr task for Blueprints). This meant that many players, myself included, were not able to begin earning toys in a timely fashion. But since this is a limited time event and Stewie will be there forever, UNTIL YOU HAVE RUPERT, THIS SHOULD TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER ALL DISTRICT 8 TASKS!!!
Also, I think the premium topiary and sandbox are both overpriced and underwhelming (and will be almost completely worthless when it’s over–like so many previous premium items). Plus, they TOTALLY FALSELY-ADVERTISE THE TOPIARY! Check this picture out:
Don’t get it twisted though: I LOVE ALL NEW QUESTS FOR NEW STUFF!!!!!!
So, what are YOUR thoughts about the new content? Are YOU going to buy the topiary or sandbox? Are YOU getting tired of the ‘Boxes’ already (Sarcophagi, 4th of July Box, now this one…). Are YOU excited for Rupert! What have you won from the box so far? Let us know what YOU think? You know we LOVE hearing from you!
Thanks for reading & happy tapping!
